TFU Board Members plant a symbolic tree with Fellows and Students a Kikalu P/S in Namutumba District

The Teach for Uganda Board represented by Board Chair Mr. Tony Otoa with Board Members Mr. Abubaker Mayanja, and Ms. Rose Izizinga field visit as part of the Q3 board meeting was an enriching experience in Namutumba District, Eastern Uganda. They had the privilege of visiting Kikalu Primary School where they were immersed in both the classroom and community experience, observed a lesson by one of the fellows, interacted with the children and witnessed firsthand the impact of our work.

Because of this, our Teach For Uganda Fellows were deeply appreciative and inspired by the Board’s genuine interest in understanding the challenges and opportunities in the classroom and the broader community. The opportunity to interact and share their experiences with the Board members left a lasting impression on the Fellows, reinforcing their passion for the transformative work they do each day. The visit also served as a source of motivation, as the Fellows felt valued and supported in their mission to provide quality education to children in underserved communities.

They penned this heartwarming appreciation letter to the Board.

“Dear Great Leaders,

On behalf of Kikalu Primary School, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincerest gratitude for the incredible work you are doing and for visiting our school. Your presence, feedback, encouragement, and support have made a remarkable impact on our school and the lives of the children we serve.

Your commitment to traveling to distant locations, despite difficult roads and dusty conditions, truly showcases your dedication to working with less privileged communities in hard-to-reach areas. We have realized that many children have lived and continue to live in the shadow of their dreams simply because they have no one to hold their hands, encourage them, and give them hope for a better future. However, Teach for Uganda has realized this need, and it’s evident that learners now have hope for tomorrow.

The unwavering support we receive from the coaches, their guidance, and their dedication have left an incredible mark on the schools we serve and in the hearts of the children. We are proud to work alongside a team that is passionate, caring, and resourceful like Teach for Uganda. Your support and presence have truly motivated us to strive for excellence and reach new heights in our endeavors.

Thank you for your dedication and professionalism. Your efforts are truly valued and have made a significant positive impact on the success of our fellows and the schools we work with. Your commitment to improving the lives of children and the communities we serve is truly inspiring. Once again, thank you for your exceptional efforts and commitment to the vision of Teach for Uganda.”
